The Edinburgh Marathon Festival

Did you know that 11 of the 12 people to walk on the moon were scouts and that only 1% of the population has ever run a marathon.

We can't take you for a trip to the moon but we can set you on a journey to run a marathon. Will this be the year you stand out from the crowd, take on a marathon and raise funds for Scouts Scotland?

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is Scotland’s largest running festival. There are 9 races on offer over two days including the marathon, half marathon, team relay, 10km, 5km and junior races. There really is something for everyone.

Entries for Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2017 are now open.

Scouts Scotland have a limited number of free charity places available so why not take up a FREE charity place now and help us raise funds so we can continue to give young people and adults unforgettable experiences and life-changing opportunities, regardless of background, ability, gender or sexuality. And it’s not just our members who will benefit; the work we do makes a difference in communities across Scotland

When does EMF 2017 take place?

This popular and ever-growing marathon festival will take place in the capital on 27-28 May 2017. The route will take you through the city and on to East Lothian, offering stunning views and an unforgettable running experience.

What is expected of me and how do I sign up?

We ask all of our runners taking up a free charity place to agree to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship.  There is a different commitment for each race and they are all aimed at making it a little easier but if you are worried about sponsorship please speak to our friendly fundraising team who can help with some advice and ideas.

So if you’re up for a challenge in 2017 and fancy joining an elite 1%, this is the perfect opportunity for you as we're offering FREE charity places. So sign up now or contact our fundraising team.

Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're right

Advice on fundraising

When fundraising, we would always suggest setting up an online giving page, as it helps take the pressure of looking after money away from you and lets you enjoy the experience and concentrate on your training.

If at any time you would like any advice on this, or on way to raise extra sponsorship just let us know.

Please get in touch if you would like more information on how you can fundraise for us.
