Scouts needed to help name Golden Eagle
The South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project need help naming a male Golden Eagle.
Earlier this year the project collected a male eagle to be released in the south of Scotland and they would love Scouts to get involved to suggest names for him.
Working with RSPB, Scottish Forestry, Nature Scot and other bodies, the project aims to increase the population of golden eagles in southern Scotland. Golden Eagle populations are slowly increasing in the Highlands and Islands but have remained low and vulnerable in the south of Scotland.
Previous eagles who have been released by the project have been given names such as Iona, Skan, Sinclair and Emma.
So, get creative, brainstorm with your group or your family and get involved!
How to take part:
We’d like you to comment on our social media post telling us which names you think should be considered for the eagle.
We want to make sure all Scouts from Squirrels to Network can take part.
So should the name come from a young person through a parent or carer, please follow the eagle name with the Scout’s name and group. We’d also like groups to brainstorm and then vote for their favourite before submitting. If entering as a group, then please follow the eagles name with the group’s name.
Terms & Conditions
The final name will be decided by The South of Scotland Eagle Project.
The closing date for entering names will be Friday 2nd September. Scouts Scotland has the right to remove any unsuitable names from the final pool.
