Remembering our Patron HM The Queen
It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of our Patron, HM The Queen.
Her Majesty was a dedicated supporter of Scouts and beloved role model for our young people. We remember her and thank her for incredible kindness, service and support she showed to our movement. For seventy years, HM The Queen has stood at our side, encouraging our volunteers and inspiring our young people to learn new skills and help others.
This is a challenging time, and it’s important that we support each other and our young people. Please read the detailed and helpful guidance from Scouts UK on how to mark this moment meaningfully and respectfully, and updates for what will happen next.
Words can’t express the huge loss to our country, and indeed to Scouting, that we are all feeling. Our thoughts and prayers are with King Charles, Camilla, the Queen Consort, the other members of the Royal Family and all who are grieving at this time.
Out of respect and great sadness, we have postponed this weekend’s ScoutFest event and our AGM.
We are still working through the details, but we will be in touch soon with more information about our rescheduled AGM, which will now take place separately to ScoutFest and before the end of November this year. In line with our Constitution and By-laws, our Co-ordinating Group have agreed that elected and nominated Trustees will join the Board from Sunday 11th September as planned, and will be approved by the Council at our rescheduled AGM.
On behalf of Scouts across Scotland, we thank HM The Queen for her service. We will never forget her.
