New Youth Involvement Commissioner appointed
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jenny Brownlie as the third SHQ Commissioner (Youth Involvement) to work alongside Patrick West and Steven Maclennan.
At age 21, Jenny is about to enter her fourth year at Edinburgh University studying Social Anthropology with Development. Alongside her life in Scouting, this degree has allowed her to travel the world with her focus remaining heavily in South East Asia. It has also given her the opportunity to meet Scouts from many different countries.
After her first trip to Indonesia with Clyde Region in 2015, she gained her Queen’s Scout Award. She attended the Windsor parade the following April, inspiring her to take on more top awards in Scouting. This summer, she travelled abroad with Clyde Region to complete her Explorer Belt in South East Germany, and is hoping to finish the award in late September.
When not involved in Scouting, Jenny enjoys sports, particularly dance and cheerleading, competing throughout the UK and winning various awards.
“I am confident that Jenny will be an excellent addition to the SHQ Youth Involvement Team and help Patrick, Steven and the Chair of the National Youth Advisory Group, Tudor, implement our exciting and challenging Youth Involvement strategy,” said Graham Haddock, Chief Commissioner.
