National Recognition for Scouts Scotland Member

12 January 2023

Congratulations to ex-Depute Chief Commissioner, Gillian Caldwell, on being awarded an MBE for Services to Scouting in the King's 2023 New Year's Honours list.

Gillian’s commitment to Scouting at Scottish Level, in Clyde Region, and at both 35th Glasgow and Pegasus Explorer Unit is phenomenal. She has inspired so many young people and adults to get involved and make a difference. Her contributions as a Leader, Trainer and Facilitator have been invaluable, and all at Scouts Scotland are so proud of all that she has achieved, and continues to accomplish.

Our Chief Commissioner, Andrew Sharkey, celebrated the news saying “Gillian has made a significant contribution to Scouting in Scotland and we are delighted that she has been recognised for her efforts.”

“Gillian has dedicated 45 years of service to helping young people develop important life skills through Scouting. Thank you, Gillian, for your relentless commitment and for being such an important part of our Scottish Scouting community. This Award is a well-deserved recognition of your dedication and hard work, and we are all so proud of you.”
