National Awards Ceremony 2024

National Awards Ceremony 2024

21 June 2024

On Sunday 16th June, we were thrilled to host our National Awards Day 2024, celebrating volunteers across Scotland who received the Silver Acorn, Bar to Silver Acorn and Silver Wolf Awards between 2019 and 2023.

This was the first in-person Awards Ceremony since the pandemic, and it was brilliant to see everyone gathered, celebrating the achievements of so many across the Movement. These are among the most prestigious awards in Scouting and recognise exceptional contributions. And it was fantastic to see members reconnect at the event, celebrating a shared passion for Scouting.

Chief Volunteer Barry Donald-Hewitt captured the essence of the day perfectly when he said, “It is incredibly inspiring to witness the dedication and passion of our award recipients. Their unwavering commitment to supporting young people is truly what makes Scouting such a transformative force. This ceremony was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their contributions and express our deepest gratitude”.

It was great to hear from Mollie Hughes, Scouts Scotland President, as she led a reflection focused on dedication. Our Young People were also in attendance with Youth Lead, Mollie Reid, and East Region Youth Lead, Iris Calderwood, who read the citations for the Silver Wolf awards.

The national event provided a unique platform for award recipients, who may have received initial recognition at local ceremonies, to be acknowledged alongside fellow outstanding members from across Scotland. Surrounded by friends, family, and a vibrant Scouting community, it was a chance to celebrate achievements and reaffirm their shared passion.

Congratulations to all our award recipients! Your unwavering dedication is what makes our Movement so remarkable.
