Join the National Youth Advisory Group

Are you aged 14-25 and bursting with amazing ideas about how to develop Scouting in Scotland? Are you passionate about making sure young people have a voice in Scouting?

We have a great opportunity for young people to get involved in shaping the future of Scottish Scouting in partnership with adults.

Our National Youth Advisory Group (NYAG) has vacancies for young people to join. You’ll work with the Scottish Youth Commissioner, who chairs the Group, and other young people to develop ideas and projects that will help ensure young people make an impact on Scouting in Scotland.

What is expected

As a member of NYAG you’ll:

  • Attend three meetings a year (travel expenses will be covered)
  • Produce written papers for NYAG meetings
  • Stay in touch with NYAG members in between meetings
  • Join a subcommittee of NYAG
  • Attend additional meetings if required
  • Help support the work of NYAG

About NYAG

NYAG was set up as part of the Scouts Scotland Youth Involvement Strategy, as the top-level group for making sure youth involvement is embedded in all levels of Scouting in Scotland.

NYAG links and supports to national youth involvement teams and provides comment and support on youth matters to the Scottish Board and its subcommittees.

NYAG also runs working groups, which address key areas or portfolios of work. Members of NYAG will be designated an area of work, ensuring everyone has a clear purpose.
