Join our Board

01 August 2017

The Scottish Board is the Trustee body responsible for the strategic development, policy and management of Scouts Scotland.  As part of a large Scottish charity, our Trustees apply their skills and knowledge to support Scouting and make a massive difference to the lives of young people across Scotland.

We are currently looking for new Trustees to join our Board

This year there are two vacancies for elected members on the Board.

We recognise that our Board lacks diversity, and are committed to tackling this.  We believe that it is crucial that our Trustees truly reflect our membership, and we would particularly welcome applications from women and black minority ethnic candidates who are currently underrepresented.

A recent skills audit identified that the Board would especially benefit from experience in IT, finance, change and project management, property development, and property management.

Why should I get involved?

Our elected member positions are for members and associate members of Scouts Scotland, so if that’s you, we know that you’re already passionate about what we do.  You know that Scouting gives young people the best possible start in life, and experiences and opportunities that they just wouldn’t get anywhere else.

By becoming a Trustee, you would help us to make a difference at a national level.  You would play a leading role in ensuring that more young people in Scotland can access better futures.

Becoming a Trustee is also a great way to gain new skills and experience that can help you to develop your own career.

The Board members’ role

Further information about the Trustee role, the role description and person specification, as well as the nomination and the election process, can be found on the nominations website including a video of our Chair and other Board members talking about their roles.
