Development Fund Opportunities

05 September 2017

In Scouting, we are proud to be able to give young people the opportunity to achieve something they didn’t think possible or take a risk trying something new. However, financing our adventures can sometimes be challenging.

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been working over the past few months to review our own Development Fund, which supports projects that grow, improve and help make Scouting more inclusive across Scotland. These grants are made possible thanks to the support of independent funders, mainly the Gannochy Trust.

New funds

The new funds, which are available include:
• Start-up funding for new sections across Scotland
• A development project fund for Groups and Districts
• A development project fund for Regions and the SHQ Development Team
• Small grants for leaders to undertake training and qualifications, for example in adventurous activities

In total, we have around £50,000 per annum to disperse and we want to make as big an impact as we possibly can with that money.

Applying to the funds

If you have ideas about how you can develop Scouting in your Group, District or Region or would like to welcome more young people and volunteers from diverse backgrounds, take a look at the fund guidelines to find out if your project could be eligible.
