Could you show your stripes and be a World Scout Jamboree Unit Leader?

Could you show your stripes and be a World Scout Jamboree Unit Leader?

09 July 2021

We’re so excited that Scotland has been allocated 23 patrols to become part of the UK Contingent to the 25 World Scout Jamboree in Korea during 2023!

That means we need to recruit 23 adult volunteers to become the Leadership Teams of our six Scottish Units. They will make sure that our 207 Explorer Scouts and 9 Scottish Guides will be empowered to be bold and brave to make the most of the life shaping experience the World Scout Jamboree will provide.

You could make the difference for someone like Duncan, who attended the last World Scout Jamboree in North America:

Derek, James, Stace and Marc were brilliant leaders. Having never really met them before I was a bit nervous but they made themselves very approachable and were really supportive. Not only that, but they all worked well together as a four and with the rest of us a Unit. Without their effort and time the WSJ experience would not have been the same amazing experience.

Scott, who attended the last World Scout Jamboree as an Assistant Unit Leader told us:

It’s incredible to watch the young people grow and develop in the build up to the Jamboree, as you as a leader do the same by preparing. All the hard work is worth it when they come back in the evening to tell you all the stories of that day’s adventures!

We’re supporting the UK Contingent’s vision to be the most inclusive UK Contingent to attend a World Scout Jamboree. There should be no unnecessary barriers to anyone becoming part of our Unit Leadership Team.

Never been to a Jamboree before? – that’s OK!
Not an Explorer Scout Leader? – absolutely no problem
Never been on a plane? – step forward tiger!

The UK Contingent is not shying away from challenging the perceptions of who an adult jamboree volunteer is, so if you’re prepared to Think big. Dream wild and Act together why not leap at the opportunity to apply to join our team?

This is an adult role, and considering prior experience, the UK Contingent advise Unit Leaders, and Assistants should be at least 18 years old by 1 January 2022.

Considering it?
