Blog | A weekend away with Beavers

SHQ Commissioner (Beavers) Lorraine, recently took her own Beaver Colony to Fordell Firs National Activity Centre for the weekend to stay in the new Sir Garth Morrison Lodge. The Colony themed its two-night camp around the My Outdoor Challenge Award, setting up activity bases that were each led by volunteers. She said:

“The Sir Garth Morrison Lodge is perfect for taking Beavers away. It’s purpose built. It has everything you need. The Beavers are safe and secure at night. Fordell adventure is all around and the Fordell team is on hand to support you.

“It’s really important to give Beavers a nights-awayexperience. It builds their confidence and it’s a great adventure for them.

"These six and seven year olds love it and for many of them it can be the first time they’ve been away from their parents so it’s a great experience for them.

"The Sir Garth Morrison Lodge is a great choice for a Beaver Leader’s first camp. You can come along and be confident that you will be supported by the Fordell team. Everything is here when you arrive, so you don’t need to bring all the equipment you would for an outdoors camp.”
