Blair Atholl Jamborette 2022 update

03 June 2021

In just over one year’s time we should be running the biennial Scottish International Patrol Jamborette from 18th-29th July 2022. There remains much uncertainty around international travel, restrictions on movements and meeting, and the impact of new COVID variants that are emerging. At present, Scouts Scotland is not quite able to authorise the running of a large event, however the Blair Atholl core team are able to take necessary steps regarding planning for a camp, should that be possible.

We are unlikely to be able to confirm the running of the camp before August 2021, but appreciate that everyone connected to the camp is keen to understand where we stand.

A survey of overseas contingents in December was very positive and Scottish Explorers and adults asked about Blair showed a desire to run an international camp if that is at all possible.

There are a lot of uncertainties but some things we know for sure:

Any camp will happen in the grounds of Blair Atholl Castle

There will be no change to the participant age range (14-18 at the beginning of the camp)

We will aim to deliver an exciting programme for the young people attending, though some modifications may be required depending on any Government advice in place at the time

The camp will not be offering to coordinate home hospitality this year. Contingents may be interested in exploring some form of hosted hospitality and we will help to direct them to opportunities that we know of. There may of course be established arrangements that contingents wish to continue. Your Group / District / Region may want to consider opportunities to host an international contingent to bring international Scouting to your area before or after the camp.

Staff applications will open towards the end of 2021

What's next?

We're in the process of updating the website at and more details will be released there in due course. In the meantime we’ve invited Regions to give an indication of their interest and overseas contingents are completing an expression of interest form. Feel free to share this link if you are in contact with overseas groups. (We already have interest in 40% of the overseas patrol places within 24hrs of opening.)
