About the event

We're delighted to host our long awaited Outdoor and Adventure Conference at Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead on 23-25 February 2024.

This event is for adults Leaders from all over Scotland who would like to develop the skills to provide the very best outdoor adventure experiences for young people.

This is a great opportunity for adult leaders to make progress towards permits and qualifications, develop their skills and be introduced to new possibilities. Guests of previous conference’s are invited to return to build on the work they achieved last time, but we hope to welcome lots of new faces too.

Guests will be provided with indoor accommodation, all meals and evening entertainment on both evenings.

Throughout the weekend, we’ll be running courses in a diverse range of adventurous activities, giving you the opportunity to develop the skills and in some cases achieve the appropriate permits or qualifications to be able to lead groups of young people. Not all courses will result in a permit recommendation or qualification by the end of the weekend. Click Book Now to see all the courses running across the weekend.

We have courses for beginners as well as courses aimed at intermediate and advanced levels. This year all courses will run throughout the whole weekend and you will book onto the course you want to attend. We only have a set amount of space on each course so as to maximise the learning for each participant so please think carefully about what you want to attend and whether you are at the right level.

Take a look at what the weekend programme will look like

We spoke to some attendees from previous Outdoor and Adventure conferences and they said:
"I would recommend other leaders /instructors looking at the outdoor conference as a way to increase their knowledge or qualifications around the various opportunities that this conference brings "

"I've attended the outdoor conference twice in the last few years, each time building skills for hillwalking and navigation. The instruction has been brilliant and helped me progress from hillwalking as a personal hobby to gaining my T2 permit and Summer Mountain Leader award, meaning I can take our Scouts out on hikes and expeditions. It's also a really social weekend and a great way to meet other leaders from across Scotland with similar interests. And the ceilidh is great fun!"

Costs and booking

This conference costs £60 to attend as it is being heavily subsidised by Scouts Scotland. The actual cost is £200 and this amount would be payable in the event of cancellation and us being unable to fill the cancelled place.  Accommodation, food, courses and instruction are included, but guests will need to fund their own travel arrangements to and from Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead.
