About the event
The National Explorer Weekend Scotland (NEWS) camp is back for a second year!
Last year we welcomed 200 Explorer Scouts from every region in Scotland so do join us this year for a chance to meet get together with both old and new friends from all over the country.
This year’s camp will take place at Barrwood campsite near Stirling over the weekend of 25 to 27 August.
The weekend offers an action-packed programme to give Explorers opportunities to experience new activities and learn more about the opportunities within the Explorer Section and beyond.
Friday night will bring all the Explorers together for an evening activity. Saturday will see Explorers compete for prizes in a “team city challenge” in Stirling. The challenges will centre on the three main areas of the Explorer programme – World, Outdoor and Skill. On Sunday, Explorers will have the chance to take part in a range of on-site activities.
The camp will also count towards an aspect of the Zodiac Award, for anyone working towards this award.
Explorers can attend on passports for this event and will camp on a “Passport Sub-camp” over the weekend.
NEWS 2017 will be fully catered, from supper on Friday Night to lunch on Sunday prior to departure. Please bring plates, bowls, mug and cutlery!
