About the event
NEWS is back for a third year after an amazing 2017 event, attended by 200 Explorers from every region in Scotland.
This year’s camp takes place at Douglaswood Scout Centre near Dundee over the weekend 24–26 August.
NEWS camp is an excellent way to start off the new session and make or rekindle friendships with people from all over Scotland. Come along to experience new activities and learn more about the opportunities within the Explorer Section and beyond.
This camp can also count towards an aspect of the Zodiac Award.
Friday night will bring everyone together for an evening activity and is a great time to catch up with Explorers from all over Scotland.
On Saturday, Explorers will take part in a Team City Challenge in Dundee. The challenges will centre around the three main areas of the Explorer programme – World, Outdoor and Skill.
You can take part in an exciting range of off-site and on-site activities on Sunday.
Explorers can attend on passports for this event and will camp on a Passport Subcamp over the weekend.
The deadline for applications is 29 June but we advise you should apply as soon as you can to make sure you are not disappointed! We only have 200 spaces, so if we fill the places before the deadline, applications will close.
The price for this camp includes all your food as well as camp fees and activities for the weekend.
We really look forward to seeing you all at NEWS 2018!
