About the event

Are you a Terrain or Rock Permit Assessor or hold a Mountain Training Qualification?
If yes, then we have the course for you!

With the help of Mountain Training Scotland, we have organised a Mountain Training Scotland: Training and Assessing course. These courses book up fast as they are the gateway to anyone wishing to work on Mountain Training courses. These courses also, and very importantly, count towards the CPD needed to retain assessor status for any active terrain or rock permit assessor.

About the course

This 2 day workshop is Provided by Mountain Training Scotland and is for those looking to develop their training and assessment techniques.

The course will be staffed by Alan Halewood and Sandy Paterson - both trainers and assessors with a long time involvement with training and assessing on the Mountain Training qualification schemes including at Mountaineering Instructor level.

The workshop is for those involved or interested in becoming involved in working on the Mountain Training qualification schemes, and is a mandatory part of the process of becoming a Mountain Training Scotland (MTS) approved Course Director. The intention is to allow participants practical opportunities to explore methodologies appropriate to training and assessing the Mountain Training qualifications.
As a Scout Leader holding a Module 25, this course will be a sought after CPD opportunity to stay up to date as an assessor (as per POR). It will also hold relevance to anyone training and assessing in the outdoors not just those involved in working on the Mountain Training schemes.

To reduce the amount of time spent inside covering the theory there will be an eLearning module to complete prior to the course and this will be emailed to attendees prior to the course.

A prerequisite of this course is that you are a Mountain Training award holder.
