About the event

Are you looking to complete the residential element of your Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award? We’re offering a conservation-themed residential at Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead, which also gives you the opportunity to complete a John Muir Discovery Award.

During the week, you will be exploring the hill/forest/water environments of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park through activities run by Lochgoilhead’s staff including hillwalking, canoeing, rock climbing, and sailing.

Working in your group you will complete a conservation project which is likely to involve a wildlife or plant survey. You will learn about the work of John Muir and the connection between him and the National Park Network. There will be an opportunity to get to know other participants and make new friends with like-minded interests.

This residential offers full board indoor accommodation and the price includes all activities led by our instructional team. During your stay you will complete a John Muir Discovery Award and a Leave No Trace course. You will learn about the local area from a conservation point of view and complete a range of OPAL citizen science projects to feed into large national science projects.
