About the event

If you're aged between 17 and 25 we've got a great training opportunity for you. Learn to lead archery sessions with your Sections with our beginners' instructors' course.

You will be trained and assessed by accredited Archery GB coaches who will show you how to:

  • shoot arrows
  • deliver mini sessions
  • select equipment
  • set up range
  • design games

The course is only for teaching beginners, Instructors are not permitted to teach others to teach. You will be able to lead fun and safe Archery sessions for beginners.

The course takes place in the Wet Weather Hall at Fordell Firs and all equipment and documentation are included in the course fee. Course participants will be given breakfast and a light lunch and basic accommodation can be provided if necessary.

All members of Scouts Scotland who are aged 17 and 25 on the day of assessment are eligible to take part.


The course timetable is:

  • 24 February 7pm - 10pm
  • 25 February 9am - 5pm
  • 26 February 9am - 5pm

Funding and cost

The full course fee is £220. Young People Taking the Lead Funding may be available for this course, covering up to £200 of the cost. Download the Young People Taking the Lead Funding application form. for more information contact Tasha.

How to book

Email the Warden at Fordell Firs National Activity Centre if you wish to attend. You'll need to pay a £20 deposit to secure your place.
