Giving young people
Our vision is to have a movement shaped by young people in partnership with adults. We aim to empower our youth members to be actively involved in every aspect of Scouting, including programme and activity planning and the way that groups are run.
Youth Involvement is essential to the future success of Scouting by ensuring that we remain relevant to the needs and interests of young people.
The opportunity to lead activities and plan events as a Young Leader was the most empowering part of my Scouting experience.
Youth Voice Blether
Scouts Scotland Youth Voice Blether is a monthly online Zoom catch up where you can let us know what you think our priorities should be. To begin with we’re inviting Explorer Scouts and Network members to join in.
With the ever-changing situation with COVID-19, it’s a challenging time for everyone but we at Scouts Scotland are doing our very best to ensure that those across the Scout Movement in Scotland are supported during this unprecedented time. Now more than ever it’s vitally important that we work with our youth and adult members to support the continuation of Scouting locally and nationally to encourage young people to shape their Scouting journeys and feed in to all levels of Scouting and its development. Our Youth Voice Blethers have been a great way for Young People to influence our current and future opportunities.
We want to hear what you think!

Want to run your own Youth Voice Blether?
The Scouts Scotland Youth Blethers have found a lot of success in using social media to gather young people’s opinions on what matters to “them”. We have then used an online meeting platform to have wide ranging discussions on these topics which become the theme for that months Youth Blether. The online Blethers allows Scouts Scotland to bring in the relevant Commsioners, Leaders and support to work with Young People on issues that are important to them and sound out our membership on what they think our priorities should be.
We want to encourage you to run your own Youth Voice Blethers locally to help keep youth involvement at the heart of what you do. We've created a guide full of hints and tips for what to do and how to make sure your Blether is a success. We've also created a Powerpoint presentation template that you can use to run your Blether.
If you have any questions, or need any support you can get in touch with the team using the contact details at the top of this page.

Every two years Scouts Scotland elect two Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) to represent the views of our youth members at the Scottish Youth Parliament.
The Scottish Youth Parliament represents Scotland’s young people. Their vision for Scotland is of a nation that actively listens to and values the meaningful participation of its children and young people. Our MSYPs can raise issues that are personal to them or on behalf of their Scouts Scotland constituency.
