Make the most of

Outdoor Learning

We all understand how important outdoor residentials are for developing confidence, building resilience, and nurturing leadership skills in young people, but research from education consortium Learning Away reveals that taking your residential during the winter months can actually increase the benefits to young people.

Our Scout Adventures centres are open all year round, and we offer lower rates during the winter months, so a residential at this time of year can also offer a greater return on investment.

87% of secondary students felt more confident to try new things after a residential.

Winter benefits for schools

Imagine starting your school year with a classroom full of young people engaged, confident and ready to learn. Taking your outdoor residential earlier in the school year can help you achieve this. Here are some reasons why:

More time to embed learning in the classroom

Stronger relationships between pupils and teachers

More challenge to boost resilience and confidence

New learning opportunities, like stargazing or science in the snow

Greater affordability, making residentials more inclusive
