Did you know that, as a Learning Away partner, we already deliver to the evidence-based principles set out in the Brilliant Residentials report?
We provide a flexible range of outdoor learning support through our three National Activity Centres, from supporting the development of your teachers to delivering challenge and adventure for your pupils, with programmes tailored to Curriculum for Excellence Experience and Outcomes.
Fordell Firs National Activity Centre met our needs very well. The children were encouraged to work together and problem solve to try new activities and to push themselves throughout their stay.

Products for Schools
We have the expertise and facilities to help you to deliver many elements of your outdoor learning provision and also offer training opportunities for teachers. Just get in touch with one of our activity centres to find out more.
As a Learning Away partner, we plan and deliver our residential programmes at our national activity centres to the evidence-based principles highlighted in the Brilliant Residentials report. Our residential experiences range from fully catered, fully programmed packages at one of our centres to camping under the stars. . .in your playground!
Duke of Edinburgh's Award
We are Scotland's largest Duke of Edinburgh's Award Approved Activity Provider, and can deliver both the expedition and residential element of the Award. This includes Expedition Assessor training, in-school expedition training, and practice and assessed expeditions. We also have opportunities for young people to complete their residential at one of our centres.
In-service training/Teacher CPD
We work with Education Scotland to deliver tailored teacher development days in outdoor learning. Talk to us about courses in Making the Most of Your Outside Space, Leading Bushcraft Sessions, or Leading Young People in Camping Experiences.
Leadership development for young people
As Scouts, we've been training and developing young people as leaders for decades. Our leadership development programmes combine adventure and challenge to examine leadership styles and team dynamics.
Learning for Sustainability
We work in partnership with the John Muir Award, the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and citizen science network OPAL to deliver programmes that combine sustainable development education and outdoor learning. Plus, all our centres are located among or close to amazing natural landscapes. Being a bike ride away from a forest, a short walk from the river or a boat trip away from a colony of seals is ideal for carrying out field studies, wildlife surveys or working towards the John Muir Award.
National Governing Body awards
We can arrange National Governing Body awards for teachers who are looking to increase their skill levels in specific activities. Whether you want to be a kayak coach or a fully qualified mountain leader, we can help you with pre-training or qualification courses.
Royal Yacht Association Training Centre
Our Lochgoilhead Centre is a Royal Yacht Association training centre, which means we can offer our guests opportunities to learn and develop skills in sailing on stunning Loch Goil - something that few residential centres can deliver. We also offer paddle sports and power boating.
Stay, Study, Learn
Our 'Stay, Study, Learn' programmes are designed to maximise the positive association that exists between academic attainment and physical activity. They offer your pupils an opportunity to study without life's distractions while breaking up study with physical activity sessions.
