Mohammed Ahmed

As a Development Adviser, I promote Scouting within the Muslim communities in Scotland. This means I travel around to talk to Muslim groups about the value of Scouts, run awareness sessions and facilitate taster sessions. I also work with local development officers to support the start-up of Scout groups that deliver the needs of the Muslim community.

The Muslim community is diverse and made up of multiple ethnic minorities. I aim to help local districts understand the needs of the local Muslim community and look at ways of introducing Muslims to scouting.

I have joined Scouts in 2010 and was a Scout Section Leader in the 8th Braid (Salaam) group for a number of years. I am now their Training Adviser and member of the SHQ Inclusion Advisers. I am also a member of the England-based Muslim Scouts Fellowship that supports all Muslim Scout groups in the UK.
