I am a member of the inclusion team, ensuring Scouting truly reflects all aspects of our society; my particular focus is supporting those with additional needs. This support is provided to Leaders at local level in mainstream Groups as well as support for the Special Groups. The role will also endeavour to raise our inclusion profile to those outwith Scouting and encouraging others to join the movement.
I have been involved with scouting since I was 12 and gained my Queen’s Scout Award in Clackmannanshire. After leaving school I was a Scout leader with the 171st Glasgow and also became involved with the 189th Mearnskirk and Phillipshill Hospital Group. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant I moved to London and was a Leader at the Great Ormond Street Hospital Group. I have also served as ACC (Special Needs) in Wiltshire before being UK Commissioner for Special Needs. After returning to Scotland I was SHQ Adviser for Special Needs.
I have recently been very involved with the setting up of groups in hospital and additional needs school settings.
