I was appointed Safe Scouting Adviser in 2016, a role covering Health and Safety as well as Safeguarding. I aim to help Leaders to understand and implement these. I think it's very important to make these a helpful and positive part of our activities rather than an exercise in red tape!
My introduction to Scouting and all the activities that go with it came later than most, at the ripe old age of 47. I joined to support my family, who are all enthusiastic Scouts, and haven't looked back.
I am a graduate member of the Institute of Safety and Health, and work as a Health and Safety Officer in the University of St Andrews.
