I was elected in November 2015 to serve as a Trustee on the Board of Scouts Scotland. As part of this role I also sit on the Business Committee.
Although I was a Cub Scout some 35 years ago, I only returned to Scouting in 2009 to help out in our local Scout group. Since then I have become passionate about the opportunities Scouting provides young people to get away from their games consoles and in to the great outdoors - trying new things, pushing themselves and growing as individuals.
I’m now the Scout Leader, the Explorer Section Young Leader Unit Leader, and I've also just started getting involved in Adult Training at a Regional level.
I volunteered to join the Board because I believe the combination of my Scouting and professional experience brings an enthusiasm for grass roots Scouting, as well as an understanding of the broad range of knowledge and business skills needed to run an organisation like Scouts Scotland.
Professionally, I am a Director of a small software company, a certified Project Manager and an Operational Excellence consultant.
