After 3 years on the Board already, at the AGM in November 2016, I was re-elected for another 3 years, and I have since been re-appointed by the Board as Chair of the Business Committee for another year 2016/17.
As Chair of the Business Committee, I seek to to ensure good corporate governance, at strategic level, for matters related to the staff employed by Scouts Scotland; our finances, including fundraising and income from our three National Activity Centres; property matters at our three Centres at Fordell Firs, Lochgoilhead and Meggernie; as well as other legal compliance matters relating to us operating as a charity.
In all we do, I seek to ensure the business of Scouting supports the game of Scouting, and helps us deliver on our corporate strategic aims, including the National Activity Centres strategy approved by the Board.
At Scouts Scotland, I am a member of the co-ordinating group, and of the Scottish Board, and locally, I am a member of the Regional Executive Committee at Clyde Region, and serve on some of its committees. I have been involved in Scouting at Section, Group, District and Area/Regional level as a youth member, Leader and Commissioner for many, many years.
Outside of Scouting in my daytime job, I'm an Employment Judge.
